"A master-printer in the tradition of
Ansel Adams and George Tice"

Frank Van Riper

About My Work

My images interpret the environment in the form of light, shape and texture. I am drawn to subjects that reflect man's legacy and its relationship to the environment. My goal is to arouse the senses, challenge the imagination and communicate a sense of place ... portraying familiar things in unfamiliar ways.

My images are straight-forward and direct. Void of literal color, these black and white images reflect a vision rich in the subtleties and nuances of gray. I strive to set a mood for my images by selecting papers whose color, tone and depth create a sense of intimacy by drawing the viewer into the image.

All of my images...either Gelatin Silver Prints or Original Archival Digital Prints are printed personally by me utilizing materials of the highest archival standards. All works are signed and dated and are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity
.
